SCHENECTADY, NY (March 28, 2017) – The Electric City Innovation Center (ECIC) located at 433 State Street in Schenectady, NY – announced today that Jeff Goronkin (CSO) and Susan Bardack (CEO) of Buzz Media Solutions have acquired the co-working company.
Goronkin has been named CEO of the Electric City Innovation Center, LLC. He will also continue in his role as Chief Strategy Officer for Buzz Media Solutions, a full-service marketing and communications firm which relocated to the ECIC when it opened January, 2016.
ECIC has 11,000 square feet of space on the 4th floor of 433 State Street known as the Center City building, which is owned and operated by the Galesi Group. The building is located directly across the street from Proctors.
The ECIC offers monthly memberships that include a work space or private office, WiFi access, special events, state of the art conference rooms, kitchenette, and other amenities including an on-site fitness center.
The ECIC was founded by WiseLabs, which will remain a minority stakeholder in the company and a tenant at the co-working space. Other tenants include Beekman 1802, Union College, Dominion Engineering and Buzz Media Solutions. The space is also reserved by many entrepreneurs and businesses who utilize the ECIC for events and meetings.
“The sale of ECIC to Goronkin and Bardack is a tremendous opportunity for WiseLabs and the community. WiseLabs can now focus on its core business while ECIC repositions itself under the new leadership, to offer entrepreneurial programming and expand the co-working business community,” said Brad Irvine, president of WiseLabs.
The ECIC is approved as a StartUp NY tax-free zone. StartUp New York is an incentive program for companies that locate on or near college campuses. “The Electric City Innovation Center is an ideal location for companies interested in taking advantage of the StartUp New York program. The co-working community offers young companies affordable office options in a dynamic environment where members can network and gain access to the support they need to accelerate their business,” said Denise Zieske, Vice President for Workforce Development and Community Education at SUNY Schenectady County Community College and program coordinator for StartUp New York.
“In the coming months, the ECIC will be rolling out its programming component which aims to connect aspiring entrepreneurs and companies to talent, investors and educational resources. We’re thrilled about this unique opportunity to support entrepreneurship in our region,” added Goronkin.
